(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Tulsa Tenant Organizing Her Bathroom Drawers Maintaining a bathroom can be quite difficult for most Tulsa renters. But, keeping an organized bathroom can be easier to maintain, and it can help in your morning routines! Clutter can be what causes anxiety or frustration. A bathroom that is tidy, though, will negate those feelings and promote a more relaxed environment. Still, in order for an organized bathroom to be realized, you need to put in the time. Here’s what you can do to get that bathroom organized and ready to go!

Declutter

The first step to an organized bathroom is to get rid of all the clutter that you can find. Most people have the tendency to hoard too many things inside their bathrooms. It’s best to look through all of your cabinets, drawers, and shelves so that you are able to keep track of all your items and decide which ones are no longer useful. The easiest ones to spot and trash are the ones that are expired. Look for items that go together and take stock. If you find items are duplicated that haven’t been used in the past year, get rid of them. Afterward, you may start organizing the items that you actually want to keep.

Categorize to Organize

After decluttering, you can start categorizing your items. Once you’ve done this, organizing will be a walk in the park. If your bathroom belongs only to you, you can categorize items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If the bathroom is not exclusively for your use, though, you can provide caddies for the personal items of others who use it. Those caddies can be stored on a shelf or in a cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

A bathroom becomes disorganized when things aren’t where they are supposed to be. To address this issue, it helps to have clear storage containers. Your already categorized items can then be placed inside these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. Taller containers can provide separation between other items for shelves and cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, it’s important that you designate a place for the items you want to keep in the room. If not, you run the risk of returning to clutter. One good practice is to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Another alternative would be bins, drawers, and baskets. It makes things a whole lot easier when you label your storage containers so that you can easily find the items you need.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Typically, you will find it very challenging to make good use of space, since you don’t have a lot to begin with. Still, you will have, at the very least, some unused space in the bathroom. You should make full use of whatever space is available to make your bathroom look neat. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. In utilizing these small spaces, you will surely be able to keep your bathroom clean and organized.
