One of the good things about first moving into a rental home is that everything is so clean. A quality landlord will make it their business to thoroughly clean each room of the home before move-in day. From the kitchen to the bathrooms, they would all get a good cleaning. However, since time and daily use does take its toll on the rooms, even bathrooms that are kept clean fairly regularly will still need a good deep cleaning. To keep your Bixby rental home’s bathrooms sanitary and well-maintained, you should have some deep cleaning tasks done on them every few months. This would see to it that your bathrooms are kept sparkling clean.
The things that need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. Every single one of these things must be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. A simple and easy method to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This gives the mixture ample time to do its work. When the hour is over, wipe and rinse clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner then let the hot water run until the shower fills with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.
Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, just get a little amount and pour it into the sink, scrub, and flush it down with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Make sure you fasten it securely; you can use a rubber band or twist-tie. Then let sit overnight. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.
Another part of the bathroom that should go through regular deep cleaning is the toilet. Despite there being many different toilet cleaners on the market, the most effective method to really deep clean a toilet is still using baking soda. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. When the five minutes are up, brush thoroughly with a toilet brush. When you’re done scrubbing, flush the toilet and let the water rinse it clean.
If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, it’s important that you deep clean the grout to avoid bacterial growth. Bleach and a grout brush are the best ways to lighten discolored grout lines and kill anything trying to grow between your tile. To really keep grout watertight and keep both moisture and bacteria out, it’s advised to reseal it every six months. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. Prepare the cleaner by mix one part bleach to two parts water and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.
Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but it’s crucial that you do not forget to do it on a regular basis. Once you know the method of deep cleaning a bathroom the way the pros do it, you can easily stay on top of this important maintenance task.
